ܥܠ ܕܒܚܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܕܒܟܠܢ ܐܝܬ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܘܝܕܥܬܐ ܡܚܬܪܐ ܚܘܒܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܢܐ
bn' dyn khwb' mkhthr' wydeth' ydeth' 'yth dbkln ydeynn dpthkr' dyn dbkh' el
Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܣܒܪ ܕܝܕܥ ܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܡܕܡ ܝܕܥ ܐܝܟ ܡܐ ܕܘܠܐ ܠܗ ܠܡܕܥ
lmde lh dwl' m' 'yk yde mdm edkyl l' mdm dyde sbr dyn 'nsh 'n
But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܡܚܒ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܝܕܥ ܡܢܗ
mnh 'thyde hn' l'lh' mkhb dyn 'nsh 'n
But if anyone loves God, the same is known by him.

ܥܠ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܕܒܚܐ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܕܡ ܗܘ ܦܬܟܪܐ ܒܥܠܡܐ ܘܕܠܝܬ ܐܠܗ ܐܚܪܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܚܕ
khd 'n 'l' 'khryn 'lh wdlyth belm' pthkr' hw mdm hw' dl' ydeynn dpthkr' ddbkh' hkyl m'kwlth' el
Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

ܐܦܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܬ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܘ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܐܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' wmrwth' sgy'' 'lh' d'yth 'ykn' b're' 'w bshmy' 'w 'lh' dmthqryn 'yth gyr 'pn
For though there are things that are called “gods”, whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many “gods” and many “lords”;

ܐܠܐ ܠܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܚܕ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܐ ܕܟܠ ܡܢܗ ܘܚܢܢ ܒܗ ܘܚܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܟܠ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܐܦ ܚܢܢ ܒܐܝܕܗ
b'ydh khnn w'p b'ydh dkl mshykh' yshwe mry' wkhd bh wkhnn mnh dkl 'b' 'lh' hw khd dyln ln 'l'
yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܟܠܢܫ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܒܬܐܪܬܗܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܫܐ ܕܥܠ ܦܬܟܪܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܕܒܝܚܐ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܘܡܛܠ ܕܟܪܝܗܐ ܬܐܪܬܗܘܢ ܡܬܛܘܫܐ
mthTwsh' th'rthhwn dkryh' wmTl 'klyn ddbykh' 'yk pthkr' del lhsh' edm' dbth'rthhwn 'nsh' gyr 'yth ydeth' bklnsh hw' l' 'l'
However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of the idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܡܩܪܒܐ ܠܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܢ ܐܟܠܝܢܢ ܡܬܝܬܪܝܢܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܢ ܠܐ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܡܬܒܨܪܝܢܢ
mthbtsrynn n'kwl l' 'n wl' mthythrynn 'klynn 'n gyr l' l'lh' ln mqrb' l' dyn m'kwlth'
But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.

ܚܙܘ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܡܐ ܫܘܠܛܢܟܘܢ ܗܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܬܘܩܠܬܐ ܠܟܪܝܗܐ
lkryh' thwqlth' nhw' hn' shwlTnkwn dlm' dyn khzw
But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܢܚܙܝܟ ܠܟ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܟ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܕܣܡܝܟ ܐܢܬ ܒܝܬ ܦܬܟܪܐ ܠܐ ܗܐ ܬܐܪܬܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܪܝܗ ܗܘ ܡܫܬܪܪܐ ܠܡܐܟܠ ܕܕܒܝܚܐ
ddbykh' lm'kl mshthrr' hw dkryh mTl th'rthh h' l' pthkr' byth 'nth dsmyk ydeth' bk d'yth lk nkhzyk gyr 'nsh 'n
For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

ܘܐܒܕ ܠܗ ܒܝܕܥܬܟ ܕܝܠܟ ܗܘ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܪܥ ܕܡܛܠܬܗ ܡܝܬ ܡܫܝܚܐ
mshykh' myth dmTlthh dmre 'yn' hw dylk bydethk lh w'bd
And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

ܘܐܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܡܣܟܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܐܚܝܟܘܢ ܘܡܩܦܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܐܪܬܗܘܢ ܡܪܥܬܐ ܒܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܡܣܟܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ
'nthwn msklyn hw bmshykh' mreth' th'rthhwn 'nthwn wmqpkhyn b'khykwn 'nthwn msklyn hkn' w'n
Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܢ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܡܟܫܠܐ ܠܐܚܝ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܣܪܐ ܠܐ ܐܟܘܠ ܕܠܐ ܐܟܫܠ ܠܐܚܝ
l'khy 'kshl dl' 'kwl l' bsr' lelm l'khy mkshl' m'kwlth' 'n hn' mTl
Therefore if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forever more, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble.
